Two patterns taken from our dog walk on Saturday. Kicking up the saturation on the sumac a bit brought out the pattern better.

Very nice wood texture.

Those shapes are called "Icosahedron" if anyone is interested. I actually had a reason to research that some time back

Wow, Thank you, for both the comments and the info, particularly the latter, as I searched for the correct term and could not find it on google, though if course I had no idea it was 20 sided. Perhaps if I had googled one of those strange names from the ancient kings of Babylon, I may have had more luck . Sounds like one of them hey!.
These incidentally are in the Johannesburg Zoo- one in the Tiger and the other in the Lion enclosure, as part of the Zoo's Stimulative and interactive program for these animals. THe Polar bear has one too.

Trivia: I think that icosahedrons became more familiar when they were used as a gaming piece in the game "Dungeons and Dragons," thrown like dice to determine some kind of move or option.. Pretty sure that was an icosahedron, but it's probably been 30 years or more since I last saw a D&D piece.
