I shot these in early fall, used my Bausch & Lomb Tessar 1c, 1920's uncoated lens...

It's a rock outcrop. Looks like shale cross-patterned with calcite seams.

A different kind of pattern:

Milk Snake He's about the thickness of a fat pencil.
