Originally posted by goatsNdonkey This morning was the first time I heard a couple of songbirds singing their spring songs as dawn. Spring weather only started about a week ago. Later than usual. I haven't noticed flowers shoots breaking ground yet either.
We noticed Annabelle (cat) staring intently out the back window - - it was a flock of robins foraging in what will hopefully blossom into the wildflower garden. The birds are year-round residents, but they don't start foraging on the ground in large numbers until Spring. Also, about a week back, we heard a redwing calling among the phragmites. That bird is usually a reliable indicator of Spring about to start.
