In connection with the disturbing image posted by Lukulele at the top of this page, here are two images of statues memorializing victims of the Irish potato famine. The man in the second image (also seen at far right in the first image) is carrying his daughter on his shoulders, oblivious to the fact that she has died. Someone else posted images of these haunting statues earlier.

Bacchus and Ariadne, who seem to be getting along. This is a re-post but for whatever reason PF doesn't remember it. Normally PF sends me a "you have already posted this on the ---- thread" and refuses to re-post unless I make some minor change to the image file. Oh well, hopefully Pentaxians will enjoy seeing this again.

Because PF is willing to let me re-post images, I'm going to put up these three views of Daphnis & Chloe. This is just about the most amazing marble statue I've ever seen. Totally blew me away both for its intrinsic beauty, but also for the skill of the sculpture, working with hammer & chisel, to create such a thing. Look carefully about how his hands are executed in the last image. However do you make something like that out of a block of marble?
Did you add the green background in post Walter?

Yes. The statue was backed by multiple windows in one direction, walls with painting when viewed from behind. I found both backgrounds impossibly distracting so I "cut out" the statue in PS and put in a plain background. It's something I commonly do for statues and sometimes other objects photographed in a museum.

It looks like you did a very good job of it. I like that you used green, as it can be used like a green screen background used in TV and movies, to easily place whatever background one desires.

Glad if my work is pleasing, although the statue itself makes the image. If I think of it, next time I go into the desktop I'll try to hunt down and post the image as it was before PP work.

AND another statue to bug you. No background removal here as the scale of the creation is critical.

This is how the three images of the Daphnis & Chloe looked before I worked them in PP. I really prefer them with the "natural" background replaced.

Clearly no small task to clean up the background. Plenty of tedious detail to work around.

Nice work.
