Thank you but no thanks to Rattlesnakes! And the same for earthworms. I do draw the line somewhere, though I've had Mopani worms once or twice. Also considered a rich source of protein. They are harvested by the thousands every year.

Laocoon, detail. Sorry about not putting correct diacritical marks on words & names such as this, but I've never fully mastered how to do it. This is another sort of thing that makes my mind reel a bit - - how much time and skill were required to chisel out the hair & beard?

Herein lies the mortal remains of Machiavelli, a name that has given us an adjective, at least in English. I'm not entirely certain, but I think the lady holding his likeness is Justice, as the item in her left hand appears to be classic scales.

BTW: I tried to track down a description of this monument & tomb to determine for certain the identity of the the lady, but I could only find a translation of the inscription below (not shown here): "So great a name needs no eulogy."

Whimsical!

Judith slays Holofernes, and a pigeon gets the best of Judith. There seems to have been a period when this was a popular artistic subject (without the pigeon).

This is the personification of a river, but because the name wasn't carved somewhere on the base, no is sure which one. I think I'll adopt this for nearby Jabish Brook.

Fishermen. The fish, lower left ,has its gill slit positioned such that it looks like a mouth on a semi-comical face.

I've PP several statues from Iceland and transferred them to the RTP folder.
The man is identified as Fridrik Fridriksson, but not why he's memorialized, or at least I cannot translate. I suspect he was a revered teacher.
