It must have been annoying, or disturbing, or intimidating to have faces such as this, looking implacably disapproving, staring down at you during a church service.

I daresay it was fear and faith. With the advent of Protestantism, everything sparkled with new colors.

Yes, in some manifestations. Others were very strict and severe. The fellow up on wall of a ruined cathedral does not look like a person to "make a joyful noise."

I do not mind discussing this topic. I believe that tolerance alienates people and makes them more savage, rather leaves them in this state. Leaves the person at the mercy of the mass media. Do not exaggerate, religion is a very important moment for a person, both past and present. The question is what to fear - purgatory, global warming, communists at worst. As manipulation and deterrent. But at the same time, all this cannot be more severe than a mother angry at your misdeed.) I'm not sure that a person of the past experienced more stress when attending church than a modern person watching TV or flipping through the news feed on the Internet. This is a lyrical digression that has nothing to do with photography.

Just a head being used to show how a very precisely made craniometry device was once use to measure skulls supposedly to learn something about race and intelligence. Might as well cast divination bones onto the ground.

Feathers by Ellen Brown

The sculpture represents 3 feathers of the Scottish sea eagle which is Scotland's and the UK's largest bird of prey.
Their wingspan can measure between 2-2.4metres. The middle feather in the sculpture is 2.4 metres,
