I put these in a "post your photos" thread also but this is what I was looking at last week, the maples have come and gone and the aspens are really getting yellow now.

The canopy is thinning, with most of the summer in a drought, many leaves turned brown and fell early, most trees don't have as much color, and this particular woods has few colorful trees anyway, mostly oak, ash, and hickory:

Some fantastic colors on display here! We just don't get those brilliant reds and yellows in this area, and most of the trees here are the small-leaf variety. Shot at a local pond a couple Novembers ago:
