The really brilliant fall colours have passed by a few weeks here and now many trees are bare so here are a selection of images from late September/early October:

What would a fall color posting be without one from my IR camera...

A few from a walk in the woods. Unfortunately here in Missouri, most trees are Oaks, they don't get very colorful in the fall...

As per the previous image of the mums (which is gorgeous, btw)- more about the actual colors than the leaves- I just find the subject a little too evasive without getting specific, and there are some great closeups of leaves here that just say it all!

Sounds like a good idea. I'll need to keep an eye out/dig up some photos .

And Tamia: I really like that 'On the Hood' shot. Different and very cool

Not your typical fall foliage, but a nice harvest color nonetheless. Promaster Spectrum 7 1:2.8 28mm

Beautiful photos here. Thanks, Mike. I like the hood leaves photo a lot. Oula, that's a striking view through the dark woods, and your boy reminds me how much fun it was to play in the leaves when I was small. Littledrawe, you have fabulous country out that way. John, I like the cornstalks a lot -- I grew up in dairy country and autumn in the fields was always fragrant and rustly. Virgilr, the porch calls out to come sit a bit and enjoy the scene. Woof those maple leaves are beautiful, as are the mums. Steve, I love Missouri and look forward to cycling across the state. You've captured lovely scenes. Jeff, what spectacular trees! Joe, you could have been shooting nearby here -- lots of similarity between there and here. Lovely!

Here are a few more from me.

Beech Leaves

Reflections
