Into the Fog - Show Your Fog Shots

As far as I can find, this hasn't been done so far, so let's see if it gets any interest...

It's wintertiime in the northern hemisphere, so we'll be seeing a lot of foggy mornings. We've had a coouple here recently, and I got some decent shots, so I thought I'd set up a thread for everyone to show off their foggy days.

Any Pentax camera, or Samsung DSLR, anyone can post, the main requirement is fog, of course...

I'll start with a couple of mine.

We had a heavy fog yesterday, visibility maybe 50 feet, sometimes less, and I went out to a local lake to see if any pelicans might be there yet. No pelicans, but did get to see an eagle fly off (only time enough for 2 very out of focus shots) and some waterbirds that were all over the place. Numerous Great White Egrets, a couple of Pied Billed Grebes, a couple of Great Blue Herons and several hundred Cormorants or maybe Anhinga.

All these shots taken with my Rokinon 75-300.

Here's a couple of shots of Egrets flying by, in these you can actually see the wings fading into the fog, it was that thick. Visibility 50 feet or so, and one of these was 3 feet off the water, you can't see the water at all.

Several Egrets standing along the bank later on as the fog started to lift a bit. 20 minutes earlier I couldn't see the bank at all.

A few Cormorants (Anhinga maybe) flying low just off the water.

And one from a couple of weeks ago, taken on a foggy morning with the 50mm series A lens.

So there ya have it, let's see your foggy shots.

Smoke 'em if ya got 'em...

I really like the shot with the cows. But maybe it would become stronger when you crop out the bottom of the shot, they are so much in the middle now.

Going to dig into my shots to see if I've got any vague ones too (probably I do )

KarenH - Thanks, and that is a cool shot.

I'd like to have cropped the cow shot higher, but I screewed up when I took the picture, and got too much foreground in it. One of my worst habits...that's as high as I can go, the top of the picture you see is the top of the picture as I took it. I didn't have the presence of mind to compose a bit higher and take another one...so I'm stuck with that mediocre view.when I got home and did the editing I figuratively kicked myself a dozen times...

Great idea, Pete. Love your photos, especially the egrets on the bank.

Karen, nice one. The posts in the foreground left really enhance the shot.

Woof, lovely! I once walked up to a low rolling ridge and saw a family of deer materialize like ghosts out of the fog, but didn't have me camera.

I love that photo, Rense, even if I have seen it before.

We don't get much fog here, unfortunately, because I really like shooting in fog. Here's one from this fall:

I wish I got more foggy hours, they're so much fun to shoot.
