These are great!
I find dragonflies very difficult to find, let alone photograph, even when I'm at a marsh or swamp.

thank you for the comments

yes they are difficult to spot

trying to photograph while they fly is something I can't do

exposure problems as you can tell from my efforts

a lot of attempts, not many keepers

I'm pretty sure this dragonfly is a female Boreal Whiteface, which is very much a northern insect.- for example it doesn't occur in Algonquin Park in Ontario. Photo taken in Rainy River - very close to where the above bluet pics were taken.

EDIT - I'm told by someone who knows much more about this that it's likely a juvenile dot-tailed whiteface - not quite such a northerner. I should stick to birds - and even then I trip up from time to time.

I asked that same thing awhile back, even going so far as to suggesting that they be merged....

you can see the results of that thinking... they both remain....

I started this thread, unbeknown to me that there was another thread. If I recall correctly, I mentioned that this one should be ignored, and the other utilised, but that has not happened, and it just grew. I would also be happy if the two were merged.

Your thread came first Noel - November 2010 vs. August 2011. I would be happy to see them merged.

How will we splitt into cliques if we merge them?

I'm in the first thread clique, but others are not so discriminating.
