Lovely, Steve! Huge swell there!

What lens/focal length for those?

A start of my series from Alexandra Headlands is here with more to follow:

Great photos. I really like the splash in #1.

I am using a Sigma 300mm F2.8 with a Tamron 1.4X TC. It's a workable combination for me, but I'm considering the Sigma 500mm f4.5 or the Pentax 560 (once I build up the funds).

Excellent, Steve. Great combination to give you just under 450mm of reach. The 560/5.6 would be a great investment for this purpose. The Sigma 500 sounds like a great alternative. Quite fast.

My own options are limited to the Tamron 70-200 with the 1.4x teleconverter and the Tamron 500 f/8 mirror lens. The mirror lens's focal length is great, but catch in focus manually is a challenge. Examples from these lenses will be posted soon.

I live near the Pacific coast, but this is a shot on the Atlantic Ocean taken while on a business trip last October in Florida. I took my camera gear out to this beach south of Cape Canaveral, to see if there was anything interesting there to point it at. I really like how everything in the photo is bathed in bright sunlight, except for the girl who is lightly shadowed.

FA*200mm.

Hello all!

Love those shots from the Pipeline Masters Steve! Thanks for sharing!

And thanks for the shots of my home beach Nick.

I'm far away from there at the moment though. Got this shot of a Hector's dolphin on the west coast of New Zealand earlier this week:

And a few of his distant cousins at Bondi Beach a few weeks earlier...

Happy Holidays!
