Actually after considering it, I think I previously posted an impressionist photo rather than an abstract photo if I had to really classify it. Interesting article link btw shiner, good read for everyone here.
So as I don't feel like such a doorknob for posting what I myself would consider possibly off topic, here is a pic that I would classify as abstract, you would be surprised how many interesting abstracts can be found just cropping pics you already have.
EDIT: I would not be against the OP officially opening the thread to impressionist and other sorts of works however.

nice focus & bokeh!

I call this a "near-abstract", since it's not immediately obvious what you're looking at...

I don't think this is a very formal thread, actually I can't say as I have seen the OP post as long as I've been following it.

PS IIRC someone "revived" this thread from a long period of no activity not to long ago, but I could be wrong it has happened before.

Not sure this is quite an abstract as the nature of the original subject is still obvious, maybe more impressionist.

Here are two additional sort-of abstracts. The "Eye of the Storm" has been posted in another thread. The pattern abstract is new (goodie!).

Excellent composition dunerunner! Very nice even the way the 3 "barbs" are angled nearly 120 degrees apart and straight and happening right in that golden trisect. Everything is just right well done.

Could be, although I think pointillist works resolve more clearly as you stand farther back.
