OK, that has to take the "unusual Bench of the month" award. It should be entitled "SAY AH!"

That is my favourite kind of bench. Made by a crafts person with an eye for materials and the desire to create something unique. As a wood worker, I'd love to make a bench like that. It's not just a bench, it's a celebration of wood and trees. It's beauty is the difference between a material like steel or concrete , and something that was once alive and still has evidence of life in it's structure.

Normhead, I'm with you. Except I have not actually sat in these benches, they look rather too slippery for my behind. Children simply love them. Looks like hard work went into them. The difference between wood and concrete/metal benches is of course the fact that wood perishes much faster, though these days the treatment of wood means they last a lot longer. These ones I hope, will last longer. I guess I should really try and find out what kind of wood they are made of-Tamboti maybe or Natal Mahogany.

Hopefully something as priceless as these ones have been soaked in Polyethylene Glycol. It's a plastic that soaks into the pores and essentially makes the wood into plastic. It makes it incredibly heavy, but ends the worries with the about the wood rotting or decaying. It's very expensive, but compared to the cost of one of those benches, well worth it.

I finally went out to try my hand at the Brenizer method this afternoon, and I´m reasonably pleased with the results. I used the M 85mm f/2, wide open, the camera set to 2mp jpegs. This was produced from a total of 19 shots. The full version is 15.2mp. This is cross-posted from the M club.
