By the looks of your albums, you folks are doing fine this month. Keep it up!
Been enjoying your offerings but have yet to comment. Will find some time hopefully soon.

BTW, I didn't see a SiF link anywhere (if it is pardon the duplication) but it sure makes it easier for me to locate the images when time is limited.

thanks Jools, I fixed my album title so it showed in the link (apparently the link ignored the no caps in the title)

Not bad for a lens that is supposed to be.

Well, half the SiF is done. Luck to everyone to reach the finish line.

Days 13,14 & 15 are up!

Had a bit of an accident while taking pictures today. Was switching from my Sigma 17-70 to my pentax-m 28, when suddenly the Sigma slipped off my hand! Making things worse, the cheap back cover of the Sigma (something like what you get when you buy a new SLR) fell off, exposing the whole rear element.

Fell quite hard on the sand, but fortunately/unfortunely:

1. Sand was loose, so it absorbed the impact.
2. Sand was loose, so it covered quite a bit of the lens.
3. My UV filter protected the front element (got scratched pretty badly), but the rear element seems fine.

I've checked the lens and gently tapping it to check if there's any sand particles which entered the lens, but so far none. Seems like it's sealed pretty well. I tried snapping a few pics, and seems like everything's fine. However, I'm still quite worried if any of the particles did actually got into it, it might affect the HSM or OS or any function of the lens. So, I may be sending it to the service center tomorrow (if I have time), to check the insides.

Hopefully, all goes well and I can still continue the challenge. If not, hope everybody can allow me to have a few days off, and I'll try to take pictures after it has been repaired.

I'm actually regretting..why oh why did I decide the change lenses, when I didn't have to..

take the time, accidents happen to us all. Hopefully no issues but better safe than sorry down the road
i once dropped my camera from the rafters at a hockey game. it fell 30 feet onto the top of the net (fortunately) then bounced to the ice. a small dent in the body is all it suffered (this was back in film days though and the camera was built like a tank I doubt my current gear would do as well)

As Eddie said, take your time and have it checked, hope noting is wrong. Never had an accident with camera or lens, hope it stays like that.

Bad news... seems like the technician said that I need to do some general cleaning, to check the insides and clean at the same time. So, it seems that I'll be out until next week, as the service center told me that it will be ready by then.

I'm out of safeties, so I'll either pull out of the challenge or snap lots of pics after I get the lens back.

How about just replacing it with one more for the rest of the month? I would just find something similar.

Am I allowed to change to another lens? Maybe a different one, like the M 28mm?

I'd have no disagreement with this plan, what do the others think?

I'm all for it. Better to complete the challenge than drop out. Sorry to hear about the lens.
