Ok, over to something completely different. I was out walking the other day (before the last days' snowfall) and encountered this congregation of mallards in the last bit of open water on this small lake. Looks cold...

I know how ducks keep their feet from freezing, but it still chills me to look at them standing barefoot on ice.
This wood duck was in much warmer water down in Louisiana.

Another bird that prefers warm climates. Not sure why this one is soft, but it looks as if the AF might have locked on grass blades nearer the camera.

Here's a bird that I have yet to see outside of the Kruger National Park. I suspect these had their nests inside this drain-at a picnic spot in the Park, so pretty safe, as their natural predators, snakes, will avoid the place due to the presence of humans.

Some elephants at a distance, as well as some giraffes that the teenage elephants kept from the river. And some pukus almost in camp in the foreground. And some birds in the sky - probably quelea.

(And I know I have posted this in a black&white thread, but not here - I think.)

More big- but not anywhere near as good as WPRESTO's pic- This was miles away-not even 500ml lens + x2 converter could get closer. Huge herd- the kind that would get me wetting my pants if I met them on a road.
