Originally posted by jacamar I worked on a development project in the Lower Shire Valley for 2 years - at the southern end of the country surrounded by Mozambique. Low lying and hot. My records indicate that mine were Red-winged Pratincoles. We had Open-billed Storks, but not Saddle - Billed. Another great sighting was a Black-bellied Bustard - a challenge even with the equipment I have now - it wouldn't let me within 100 metres. If you have a good picture of that one I will be impressed!
Been there, and yes, very hot indeed. I know a few missionary friends that work there, a pastor as well and have some friends in Blantyre. Beautiful country all round, but the mice on a stick, kabab style, was too much for me
About the Black Bellied Bustard, just checked Google, and we call it the Black Bellied Korhaan. I do have an image of one somewhere in my collection, i'll see if I can find it-in my 1000's of images from the Kruger Park.
Fab images from you - those last ones. Keep them coming.
Oh, found the Black Bellied Korhaan
