Have never seen that particular Starling, I gather it must be from north of our borders, it certainly does not occur around here. In any event, it is magnificent.
Visited a park today that I have not visited for years, as it has become a bot notorious for crime and robberies, but took a chance as it was a public holiday (workers day) and I expected there would be a crowd, which there was, but also discovered that the security has been beefed up as it were so it was quite safe. There I was blessed to see a Spotted Eagle Owl, a bird that is pretty much at home in suburban Johannesburg. Not surprising, seeing that we do have a problem with rat infestation.

FYI: I got the name wrong, it is a "SUPERB STARLING." We saw them frequently in Kenya.

BITE! I suspect the lion at right is long since dead, judging from the emaciated condition and the large wound on his flank, plus other smaller punctures visible on careful inspection.

Wonder if it would be suffering from feline AIDS, a common problem with the Lions of the Kruger Park.
Some sacred Ibises that usually fly away when I approach-wonder why?

Ours was wild. They are fairly common in Kenya, but as I noted in a subsequent post, the correct common name is "superb starling."

A few from this last weekend, along the Oregon coast. Creatures guaranteed photographed in the wild K-30 and 18-135WR was all I took along, and these turned out nicely. No post except cropping and resizing.

Sacred Ibis. Large bird and not especially shy, so not too difficult to get a picture.
