Seeing that hippo in the background, a sad note for today: the Detroit zoo was obliged to euthanize Bertie, the oldest hippo in the USA at the age of 58. One of his 29 offspring survives in Detroit.

And like a good Mormon, he had multiple mates, Two to be exact. Jeepers! That's 14 or 15 offspring for each lady, and SFAIK even twins is rare to non-existent.

They'd better watch out- there's a predator on the prowl. Thought I'd post on of that memorable sighting of a pride of Lions-Kruger Park. Forgive me if I have posted it before, or enjoy the envy
