Dwarf mongeese (mongooses? mongeeses?), obviously zoo animals and nearly impossible to photograph without flash in this interior display.

They look plump, as only zoo animals can look, compared to their thin relatives out in the wild.

Another oyster catcher - encountered them regularly. The mongooses may be well fed captives, but just about all the small carnivores - weasels, civet cats, small true cats - they were almost constantly on the move, pausing stationary for only a few seconds at a time unless they were asleep.

Bat Eared Fox, always nice to see, albeit a captive specimen. And on that note it's good night.

Red-necked phalarope, scooting along. Good midday, noelcmn. 6:15 here, sun just about up. Planning to go out shortly to my favorite meadow. Time of year when there are many, many spider webs. Trick is to find one that's near vertically oriented. Most are angled, and the spiders always prefer the underside which makes it difficult or impossible to get the sensor parallel to the web.

More eider. Must be millions of these ducks on and around Iceland. The primary return for up early is not enough sleep. This time of year it's pretty much impossible for me to stay abed past 5:30. Sometimes if I've gone to the gym the evening before I can make it to 6AM, but that PM exercise is not reliable for getting more sleep.
