Way-way far away shot of a pileated woodpecker, largest of that group in NA (unless there are any of the very similar ivory billed woodpecker still alive). This is a significant crop from the original.

I think you can safely call it a Striated Heron again, since the American Ornithologists' Union has restored the split from Green Heron.

We don't have the two specimens here, so Green Backed it will be. Besides, the SA ornithologist (SA BIRDLIFE) Society will be adamant to call it Green backed.

Oops, I didn't realize the species was so widespread. It seems that Striated refers only to the South American subspecies.

Yep, my bird book says Africa South of the Sahara, Asia to Australia, Islands in the Indian and Pacific Oceans and South America.
