Remember the baby pelicans I posted earlier? Here's another shot of them. They've grown some. These were shot the Samyang 100-500mm @500mm:
I love the baby pelicans I've never seen any before.
Here are a couple (3 I counted) osprey from the nest I like to watch, this was the first time I saw them. They had 2 last year.

photolady - Nice shot of the Brown Pelicans. I've tried to shoot Coots a lot, they never get very close and due to coloration and contrast, they tend to be like Blackbirds, really tough to shoot. I don't think I have more than 2 or 3 that came out decent. Looks like that 100-500 is doing pretty well. I remember the first couple of shots I saw were a bit washed out looking, but the Pelicans look a lot better. I'm still trying to learn a new lens too, M42 Lentar 135, haven't used it much and like every other lens I have, I have to learn how it works and get comfortable with it...

Anyway, thought I might add a couple here. Been a while since I posted anything in this thread I think...

Young Tree Swallow, also posted in POTW. M42 Vivitar 200mm

Bird food. Trying not to be noticed... M42 Lentar 135mm 2.8 with part of an extension tube set, about 22-24mm. I don't have it here to measure.

I'm just getting to like the M lenses. Before when I had the K100d I could not for the life of me get them to work. Now I got the K-x and a lot of help from JeffS, I'm doing much better.

Here's one I shot couple of days ago, both with the Samyang.

Cormorant upclose:

Same Cormorant, futher away:

Don't know. Just that I was participating in Single in June and wanted to use the certain lens I got free from a member here, and Jeff offered to tell me when I got confused reading the instructions here on the PF. Course I had to get my head around to what I should be reading, and taking in. It finally it came to what I wasn't doing right. Now I can use those other two M lenses I have which have been just sitting on a shelf for two years. LOL

I'm glad you got it figured out. Took me a while at first, then I found out quite by accident if I just set the aperture I want, then press the +/- EV button it sets the shutter speed for me, and I'm off and rolling. Nothing to it now. Take a shot, check the exposure then adjust the shutter speed manually by the wheel to fine tune the exposure...

Btw, my Samyang isn't an M but an A lens. My M lenses are JC Penny 28-80mm f3.5 Macro, Sears 135mm f2.8 M macro, and a Ricoh (Rikenon) (P) 50mm f2.0

Painted Turtle

This is a rather large painted turtle, the shell is probably 8 inches across, he was easily visible a hundred yards away. The second photo was taken from a distance, the smaller turtle and the duck took off when I got closer.

Couple of shots already posted in POTW, thought they might be good here too.

Young Skink, 2 inches long. Lentar 135mm f2.8 with Vivitar AET-1 extension tubes and flash.

Damselfly, same macro setup. I really wanted a side shot but he wouldn't cooperate, always landed facing me. Both taken at f16 and 1/180 with flash on 1/4 power.

Pete those are some nice wildlife. I like the skink. I've seen them here and have photos of them but nothing real small, like you have there.

Wanda, I used a Sigma AF 70-300mm Macro and a Samyang A 100-500mm. Pete said what he used in his post.

photolady - thanks I was lucky to get those. Skinks are notoriously skittish, usually I don't know one is close until it scoots under a leaf or behind the steps. Rare to get a shot at all. This one was very young, so maybe it hadn't learned to fear anything and everything yet. Actually I was lucky to be out at all, the day before I couldn't walk without a cane and then just barely...lots better now, the exercise seemed to help. I always get out and walk some soon as possible when I hurt my back, it usually helps. This time I got some nice shots too.

I'm glad to hear you're doing better Pete.

I got this one a few months ago. Fact is, it was one of my Single in March photos:

I've seen small ones too but as you said, they scoot if you move too quickly or if you're right there, then they run under a leaf. I saw one go up the wall of our other bathroom and behind the wood. Gone before I could even focus.

Nice. Looks like a 5 Line skink, should have a blue tail with yellow stripes down it. That's the most common one around here. Great shot.
