Spider

Barely any wildlife where I live. This should be a spider if I post this right.
Taken with 50mm f2 reverse n handheld over Kx. not sure if it's any good as a shot, but I like the spider.

Not sure about what you said it was. I found the name on a Florida site that shows what lizards we have here. Guess I was wrong in my iding, because I just went back to that site. I checked back at the name on it and it doesn't even look like a broad headed lizard. But it does look similar to a ground skink. It didn't have a blue tail, but the description on 5 lined says
QuoteQuote:
Females are dark, chocolate brown with five yellowish-white stripes down the back.
But as you see her, there is no five yellowish-white stripes down her back either.

I can say, these are hard to identify though.

Other wildlife I shot today. Used the Samyang 100-500mm handheld. This and a gull was the only birds I saw this afternoon at my favorite park:

photolady - here's a good page on the 5 lined skink, with several good pictures. They look different according to male or female, and males have an orange lower jaw during breeding season. Older ones also lose the stripes and blue tail and develop small black dots all over.

I'm far from sure your picture was a 5 line, and I'm not too familiar with most others, except for the Broadhead, which is similar to the 5 line but larger.

It says in that first link that when they get older they turn almost all brown. Maybe that is what I have.

Btw, my sister saw one eat a spider that was bigger than the lizard. We don't bother the lizards of any species around our house because they do eat other bugs and spiders. We have the gecko here and the Chameleon (green Anole), also Fence Lizards (brown Anole) that look like baby dinosaurs when they raise the ridges on their backs.

This red tailed hawk was close, but unfortunately he was between me and a very bright low sun. Shot from the car before he could leave.

For a backlit shot that came out pretty good.

Thanks Pete, had to add some fill light and some other minor adjustments.

Nice catch there Tom. Most times you don't see one of those on the ground, at least I don't.

Beautiful snake Voytech. TFS.

I went back to the bird island again this morning. The baby Pelicans have grown some. Still in the nest yet but quite larger than my last visit.

And a mother bringing material back to the nesting area:

Great snake Voytech! Do you know the breed?

Mar, keep watching tose Pelicans! I really like the flight shot.

Caught this Mallard doing a little water dance at Indian Lake (every state must have an Indian Lake), this one had three ducklings plus a white duckling that she must have adopted:
