That waterbuck is really a handsome creature. Small wonder you're fond of them noelcmn.
An orgy of crowned cranes (several of them were pairing up).

Yeah, I do like them, and will hopefully get a few more next week, as I head D.V. to the Kruger Park again.

You're going out to look for waterbuck, I'm going out to look for spiders. Some envy on my side.

But, Yellowstone is about 2,000 miles (3200km) from my home.

There's good bird (& alligator) photography at multiple places in Florida, only about 2000km away.
Here's an oriole, one of the more striking local birds, but only to be seen in the Spring or early summer

A little different from our local Oriole. But a very sweet sounding bird.

Another image of a redshanks on vacation at the shore.
Our oriole does have a lovely song, although not my favorite**. The like to sing from the highest branch of the tallest tree in the area.
**My favorite bird song locally is the wood thrush whose beautiful ethereal call is regularly heard up in the woods behind our sunroom on Spring evenings. We almost always pause and listen for several minutes.

I very much like the musical sound of our Oriole, and is usually the key to me finding it in the trees.
Some Wattled Starlings, which I am told can gather together in several hundred birds. On this occasion it was about 50, mostly young ones, waiting for parents to feed them.

I'd rather have Peking duck . Common Shellduck- a rather surprising sighting at Zoo Lake the other day. I initially thought it was a hybrid, but googled it, and discovered its a Common Shellduck, Eurasian bird. Xposted.

Chipping sparrow. I enjoy restaurant-prepared duck now and then, especially orange duck. Turkey is OK in moderation. It doesn't seem to lend itself to the variety of preparations that are possible with chicken.
