Noelcmn: You've really been posting an interesting diversity of species. Are they from deep back in your archives or has recent diligence, opportunity and a bit of luck expanded your image files?

This is a curly-crested aracari, a zoo specimen.

WPRESTO- Thank you. The answer is both. One is that on one of my trips to the Kruger Park, (Oct- Nov 2009) I used a troublesome memory card, that promptly decided to harass me with stress. Thought I lost all of the images but have been able to retrieve most of them, and have been looking through that file and PP the ones I wanted to use. The other, as in the most recent post, is from my trip to Addo Elephant National Park in 2014. Realized that there are a lot of images I have not used before. And I do have some time available these days, so can explore more files in my archives.
Here is another from Addo. Bokmakierie, and to quote from my bird book- is "a descriptive name-an onomatopoeic rendition of one of duet calls in their expansive call repertoire".

Pretty little bird. I envy you the diversity of wildlife as the species diversity on this continent really suffered during the Pleistocene, and most of our animals are for more wary of humans than those in Africa. I photographed a greater diversity of species during two weeks in Africa than I managed in two decades in the USA, even including zoo specimens.

And here I am envying the wildlife in North America-the net result of reading a lot of books on American wildlife.

Took this snapshot of a young springbok with the SMC version of the lens.

I love it. AF tends to hunt if I don't keep the focus pre-set to infinity, but other than that it's fantastic.

Greater scaup, in Florida. Can be seen anywhere in the USA but I don't recall seeing one here in MessyChewBits.
