Couldn't see the info; would you mind posting it? That's such a great shot!
All the blue-bird in flight images were taken on the same day using a 400mm F4 Tamron Adaptall, ISO 800, f8, 1/3200 (which isn't quite fast enough to freeze the wing tips). I pre-determined exposure, pre-focused and set the camera on high-speed multi exposure, tripping the shutter the moment the bird entered what I judged to be the FOV of the lens. All the flight images are cropped. Here's another, I think the last one not previously posted, from the set where the male was bringing a jumping spider.

Those are awesome shots, thanks for posting the info; I'd love to catch BIF; so this gives me a starting point.

I actually like the blurring of the wingtips, as that portrays the motion!

Thanks Carol - that's a GBH (great blue heron), very common in this area. I was lucky to get him to pose so nicely
At first glance, I thought noel's ostrich was standing in the snow! Nicely captured. Walt's bluebird is excellent as well.

FYI: Here is the uncropped version of the image posted above, to give some idea of the latitude for getting the birds within the FOV as they came in, and also, moving back a bit means a bit more DOF @ f8. I captured three good images when the male came in with the spider. The 400mm Tammy is an excellent lens. There's been one on offer in the SELL thread for a long time with no takers, which I find a but perplexing.

I had the Tokina 400; and loved it, but I prefer zooms, as I couldn't always move around without frightening wildlife in order to get the shots. Plus, I had to sell it in order to get the K3.

I think this is a Martial Eagle and its offspring, though it could be an Ayres Hawk Eagle, probably the former, as the latter is a rare sighting which I have seen only twice in 30 years of visiting Kruger regularly.

Jackal, far out and deeply cropped, too much stretch for the 50~500

Tsessebe -always nice to see these in the Kruger. I seem to recall they have the reputation of being the fastest antelope? Here in company with Zebra
