Love the Pelican Andrew! I like how they crash dive when they see a fish.

Borno - excellent heron shots.

Photolady - I love the sandhill crane, excellent job. I don't see those around here at all, wish I did.

Since we're onto herons...

Flying by close a few weeks ago, the only good shot of a dozen or so.

Coming in for a landing but not close.

Both shot with Vivitar 200mm M42 lens, no editing except crop and resize, and the landing shot was a bit tilted so I straightened it a little.

Thanks a lot. That's my favorite heron shot, I have it hanging on my wall. It flew by very close, maybe 20 feet, that was my first shot, and the only one that came out decent. They never get that close, this one flew toward me and I sat still until it got really close, had very little time, so I focused quick and crossed my fingers...

we have tons of these little lizards at our place. no idea what they're called.

k100d, tamron 60-300 23a, f3.8. Possibly at 180mm and 300mm respectively (can't remember, was too busy trying to frame the shot and take it before he moved to actually look at what FL I was taking it at ). Taken handheld with a rubber hood.

Cool lizard. My wife has been trying for a week to shoot one now with her new macro lens, but they don't sit still.

Thanks gredline

It's a sunny day and it was basking in the sunshine (so hot in fact I scared a snake.. eeeps. still recovering from that scare). So I got lucky re the lizard. I nearly stepped on one yesterday and it scampered off. They're so camoflauged (sp?) it's easy to miss them altogether. I didn't see this one till the last minute and then quickly backed away. I was lucky that I had a long zoom so I didn't have to get too near it to take the pic. Say about a metre or so. He just sat still the whole time watching me. Had some other ones do the same, but didn't get the focus as good so didn't bother including here

Here is a couple from a short meeting with an eagle earlier today. Apparently it was late for a very important date and promptly took to the skies just after I pointed a camera at it.
