Rietvlei Nature Reserve Rhino-mother and juvenile. Interesting watching their behavior, as mom threatened an approaching male- grunts and guttural noises that sounded more like a lions roar. She mocked charged on several occasions.

I think this is the last of my good images of a sperm whale tipping down.

Killer seagull, attacking an inured pigeon (injured by the gull?). The pigeon was flopping and flapping, the gull was pecking and tearing it apart. This was after 9PM local time so the light was poor. Used ISO 12800 on the K3.

Have a couple more decent images of these ubiquitous wall lizards. As you can see, they blend pretty well with the volcanic rock.

One last image of the phoebe nest. This batch of young is gone, but the adults appear to be working on a second clutch in the same nest.

ADDENDUM: Since the original post an hour or so back, I've been out in the sunroom watching the phoebes, and they have new hatchlings, not yet big enough to get their heads high enough for me to see, but the adults are clearly transporting PMI's* and stuffing them into the young.

*PMI = pre-masticated insect
