I wish we had something similar of those Eland's here Noel. They sure make better subjects than my birds, and squirrels. We have deer here but they are really small about the size of a large dog, and don't come to my yard as I live in a city.

Photolady, if only these came to my yard- I'd be in heaven . But they are however, from a small game reserve in the city of Pretoria, well within reach, about an hours drive, and well worth spending a day there. Africa is of course blessed with an abundance of antelope, and other wildlife. And birds-love them!
Crested Barbet-from the same small game reserve.

I'd be happy if that came to my backyard too.

Not super fancy, but here is a young black-capped chickadee from my backyard.

Certainly not colorful, but arguably sporting the equivalent of an avian tuxedo.

An injured barred owl in a rescue display, a chance to see their real beauty close up. A handler was spraying mist to cool the owl which is visible in the background and beaded on the owl's head.

When you get close, so many creatures are really beautiful. And that is a fine portrait of an owl, captive or not.

A Madeiran wall lizard, very slender with a very long tail.

Thanks Timn64. One day I may tire of taking photos of them . Here's a close cousin - Water Thick Knee, not as common, and as can be gathered, usually found close to a water source. This one from the Kruger Park.

And of course, the "thick knee" is actually their ankle.
