Atop a tree preparing to roost for the night. Very late in the day, in fact the sun may have been down, and the light was dismally poor. Did not post an image of this individual earlier because the IQ is pretty bad.

Saw this Jackal amble its way among a herd of elephants, who were quite unperturbed at it presence.

A Survivor

This Zebra, photographed in the Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania, survived the attack - most likely from lion

OUCH!!! Lucky for the zebra that its species doesn't sit down as humans do.

we think the zebra in my last post was a survivor of a lion attack because the few number of leopards reported to be in the crater but possible, as is an hyena attack ??? any experts out there with a guess. the last cheetah reported in the crater was killed by hyenas a few years ago according to our guide.

a clan of spotted (aka laughing) hyenas, multiple ages, in the Ngorongoro Crater Tanzania

Unlikely to have been anything else other than a Lion, Allen, as leopards will seldom tackle something as big as a full grown Zebra, the exception being if it was an injured animal. And more so for a cheetah. And doubtful if Hyena would inflict an would like that, seems pretty certain to have been caused by a claw. It is of course possible that it could have been caused by a tree stump but seems that it was mauled at the tail as well, so I'd settle for a lion inflicted wound.
Oh , and I just took delivery today of that lens- seems a pretty decent lens from the few shots I took today.
Addo Elephant National Park had loads of baby elephants.

Hope you like the lens, I had other lenses on the trip but never used them just the K 5 II + Tamron 70 - 300 mm macro zoom and a Nikon Coolpix P610 (very rarely, my wife used one as her camera)

If you can enlarge the photo, you will see that there are numerous other wounds, claw or teeth, I don't know
