one of my best dusting photos (can you find elephant # 2)

ist - Lake Manyara National Park, Tanzania

I was amazed at how easy they disappear and how quietly they moved through the brush

2nd - Ngorongoro Crater Tanzania

Pair of jackals on the run. They were far out, so this is a deep crop from the Bigma set at 500mm.

A western ground squirrel. They aren't quite as friendly and fearless as they were when feeding was allowed. This one looks very healthy.

going back a few posts :)

I'm jumping back a few posts and trumping a single baboon with a troop and a bonus black tail aka slender mongoose caught as it quickly ran across the road on the far side of the baboons. The baboons were busy socializing and grooming each other, didn't care about the mongoose and weren't quick to give up the right of way to the vehicle. Sorry about the out of focus on the mongoose but I was really going for the baboons and their activity.

these animals were found in the Arusha National Park, Tanzania

Another mule deer, or perhaps a second image of the same one posted above. There were two out in this little meadowy pocket.

look out your window

I was at the kitchen sink and looked out the window. I saw a blue jay in the tree. I decided to give it a shot and got the camera.

the jay was gone but -

I believe this is a northern flicker but I cannot decide if it is the yellow-shafted variety or not (pg 320, the Shibley Guide to Birds 2nd Ed)

can anyone confirm id or suggest another id

K 3 + HD PENTAX-DA 16-85mm F3.5-5.6 ED DC WR

(the bird, tree, window and I are all located in Topeka KS)

One of the small Western rodents related to the Eastern chipmunk, but I think this one is a different genus.
