no, that was a big, non dainty bird, not a threat to yours

however, this is a scary one - some type of vulture but not sure whether it is a hooded, white headed or lappet-faced vulture

Noel confirms that it is a lappet-faced vulture (Torgos tracheliotus) 45" 115 cm - the big guy - largest and most aggressive vulture in Africa

"and now for something completely different ..." (yes I am stealing from "Monty Python's Flying Circus" as well as from my wife, Judy who took this image)

MOM - Listen to me, l see something !

The little guy has spotted us, his mother and the other baboons are ignoring us.

They are used to tourists in vehicle. On foot -who knows?

These were part of a troop just sitting & grooming on the road in the Arusha National Park where Mount Meru (2nd highest peak in Tanzania, one of the tallest in Africa) is located.

First baboons we saw. It was very common to see baboons sitting in the roadways. I suspect that might be b/c they offer clear views up and down the road.

This individual has appeared several times on PF. He was posing, and in his way making faces for me for quite a while.

This photo is from a day with very willing subjects (red phalaropes in winter plumage), but an unwilling light source.
