Pretty nice cardinal captures. We have a pair of them coming around our yard as well, but you've had better luck catching yours than I have.
Thanks paulh. They're very skittish birds--I've taken a lot of photos but most are through tree branches. The male seems to be getting used to me & the camera and doesn't flit away as quickly as he did at first.

ivorie, Where did you find all of those big water birds? Is the one a tri-colored heron? Very nice series!

Tim, nice toad shot

Brown-headed Cowbirds:
Thanks for the comments... I was in Florida and went to the Merritt Wildlife/Canaveral Seashore area. It's a great place to see numerous birds and alligators. If you walk a ways off some of the main 'sand' roads and look for watering/fishing holes you can often see multiple species feeding.

I'm pretty sure that is a tri-colored heron. Someone with better bird knowledge might confirm it.

Here's a few of the 'locals' from the back yard

Rainbow Lorikeets

We went on a road trip to visit my MiL in mid March. The front lawn of the house we rented was visited by this lot every evening.

I went out looking for birds the other day and this is all I came up with. I think it may be a Bank Swallow.

Spotted this goose swimming with a group of ducks--it seemed to be watching the ducks and following their movements. It may be a Toulouse goose, aka greylag goose

Thanks! This was my favorite of the dozen or so I took. They were a rather cute bunch walking through the shopping center and parking lot. I was a bit nervous for the little ones, but the whole family made it safely to the pond adjacent to the movie theater.

About 30 yards away from the above alligator:

Gallinula galeata (Common Gallinule, AKA Common Moorhen)

May be a "common" bird but before this encounter I had never (knowingly) seen one.
