I visited a wildlife rescue facility yesterday, this is a red morph or rufous Eastern Screech-owl: Compared to finding and shooting birds in the wild this was like shooting fish in a barrel.

Love that second image - defiant and contemptuous.

I love the sense of space and isolation the photo give.

reminds me in some way of how John Ford famously used the vast spaces of Monument Valley to do the same thing in his westerns.

check out Ford's "Stage Coach"

Stagecoach (1939) - IMDb

and the "Searchers"

to see what I mean.

"What do you want"

"how dare you disturb me"

certain animals have no problem communicating (or so we presume to think)

Red-Tailed Hawk from the same wildlife rescue facility as the Screech Owl. It's hard to choose when it's that easy to photograph them.

a short sequential (within mere seconds) series of one of the Sumatran Tiger Cubs at the Topeka Zoological Park I hope you like them

(I read a lot into the eyes of these cats)

1 the beginning

2 what do you want? (photo previously posted with slightly different crop)

3 what???

4 "Go Ahead, Make My Day" - Try To Take My Bone Away

all photos taken by K 3 + HD PENTAX-DA 16-85mm F3.5-5.6 ED DC WR through the (very thick shatter resistant, I hope) glass window of the enclosure
