Nile monitor (Varanus niloticus) spotted in the Tarangire National Park Tanzania

"The Nile monitor (Varanus niloticus) is not only Africaís largest lizard but also one of the continentís most voracious predators (3). Stout-bodied and powerful, this formidable reptile has an elongated snake-like head, sharp claws, and a long, compressed tail which it uses to great effect when under threat (3) (4) (5)." - Nile monitor videos, photos and facts - Varanus niloticus | ARKive

a series of photos of a mourning dove Zenaida macroura

"You can see Mourning Doves nearly anywhere except the deep woods. Look for them in fields or patches of bare ground, or on overhead perches like telephone wires."

Mourning Dove, Identification, All About Birds - Cornell Lab of Ornithology

looked out the deck glass door and saw this mourning dove on the top rail of the deck, grabbed the k 3 + Smc PENTAX-D FA 100mm F2.8 Macro

and started to take photos through the glass door..

When I lived in SD the old timers told me that years ago, many of the farms/ranches, especially "west river" ones would stock up with 3-4 months of food before the snow flew, as drifts over roads 40-60 feet high were not uncommon.

More from the Ohio Wildlife Center, a rescue care center
Great Horned Owl

Caught blinking, you can see the nictitating membrane or third eyelid that owls have.

This Merlin was shot through a cage, so not the clearest picture
