very nice

I was lucky enough to see one in the wild in Tanzania

however, it never presented itself in such a way that a useable good photo was possible

tail and ears in the brush was what I got.
I got a a couple pictures of one in Kenya, but it was waayyy out there, a stretch for the Bigma I was using.

I was out at the Topeka Zoo and Conservation Center today to take more photos and act as docent

I was using several lenses and had just switched to the DFA 150 - 450 zoom as I approached the pond where the trumpeter swans are.

I saw this small wading bird, tentatively id as a juvenile yellow crowned night heron Nyctanassa violacea , - https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Yellow-crowned_Night-Heron/id

wading near the shore line going away from my position

I later found out that there is an active nest near the zoo on private property.

1 no crop, slight pp

2 + 3 cropped and pp

it "struck" several times but only came up with a stick

Here's the wild serval we saw, uncropped and cropped versions. The Bigma was @ 500mm where IQ suffers in a crop. Also a crowned plover image I had not posted before, although very similar to one that I did post

A lizard in Idaho. It blends a bit with the confusing background.

while trying to take photos of the 3 young cheetahs at the Kansas City Zoo with a like new HD Pentax-D FA* 70-200mm F2.8 ED DC AW I obtained today from a forum member

I heard geese coming, I took a quick true " snap shot " and here is the result

( and since I didn't really capture any color against the sky, I present it in B/W format )

Osprey. Almost looks as though the one taking flight has grabbed the youngster by the scruff of the neck. Bad timing on my part.

the view a goose hunter hates to see - a flock of Canada Geese coming in to land at the pond a 1/4 mile away

[ and a photographer wasn't too happy with either to be honest ]
