This thread was really hopping for a while, but it seems to have settled into a slow walk.
Two shots of a yellow-pine chipmunk taken in Craters of the Moon NP. It was rolling and nuzzling in the volcanic ash. I've saved another image of this fellow for guess which letter in the Alphabet Thread.

Here are a couple more of the cheetah chasing impala-unsuccessful

And the successful one, and that only because the impala tripped from its fright.

Not a great photo, but my first sighting of an Eastern Bettong. They have been extinct from the Australian mainland for about 100 years since the introduction of foxes and cats. There's a number of Bettongs which have been brought from Tasmania and introduced into Mulligan's Flat Nature Reserve, which has an electric fence protecting the animals within from Foxes and Cats.

Eurasian Eagle Owl.at the World Center for Birds of Prey. Although they have some birds on display, and give "close encounter" talks, the primary mission is rescue, rehabilitation, and especially breeding of endangered species. They are credited with saving one species of raptor whose wild population had dropped below 50 individuals.

Here's another bird that was on the endangered list, but is slowly recovering, with research and widespread information about conserving it.

Looks like the elder relative who must always be invited, but never has a happy word to say.
