This is a Juvenile Red Tailed Hawk who at the time of the picture as far as I have seen has not left the nest for a real flight.

I usually see Broad-winged hawks, but this looks like it might be some other type.
I would say it is a young Red Shouldered Hawk,

Osprey? Near water?
Definately not an Osprey, I've never seen a brown one, they are on the black and white spectrum with the exception of their eyes.

I agree it's not an Osprey, but one does indeed see them verging into brown:

This one might be a young adult.

Looks like there is some late afternoon sun there with perhaps a strong yellow cast to it, which I think, would make it look more brown than it really is but than you were there and I was not.

Thursday was an awefully boring day at work and because of the weather I decided to take the afternoon off for some shooting. It was a good decision to go shooting, when I arrived at the spot it was slightly overcast. Mother nature provided me with her natural softbox. Also lady fortune smiled upon me as the grebes were in a place where I had acces to nice grass covered bank with 2 openings in the reed. A spot fishermen would love.
I loved it too because I was able to get down on my belly for this lowlevel POV. It took me some bugbites, a stiff neck and a muddy camera but I had a hell of a time and some very nice shots

Breakfast Visitor

Not at all in the same leaque as the amazing racoon shots, but I was happy with this one shot through the window in my back door.

You did indeed! Definitely worth the down & dirty effort.

Excellent! And given the backlighting, either you are doing some fancy PP work or you have made peace with the Better Beamer.

Hey, thanks! I guess I have to take credit for the pp (and I appreciate the compliment since I'm uncertain about my pp skills.) I just haven't gotten in the habit of taking the flash with me (and I still have some practicing to do.)

Well, no need to, I think? Both the captures as well as the PP must be on a more than decent level since these are very nice images. You captured some great light.
