Good morning to you too, just 5 minutes to midday here. At least the sun is shining a bit, been raining throughout yesterday, overnight and this morning.

'tis the season:

as I was photographing birds within 15 feet of me,

my attention was drawn to the far side of the pond at the Topeka Zoo and Conservation Center

I watched as the hen mallard flew in and landed

closely followed by two drakes

then more drakes landed

all converging on the lone hen

suddenly the hen took off fleeing all of the attention

the whole process took less than a minute and I had no chance to adjust, just snap away and hope my settings were close
