K 3 + Smc PENTAX-DA* 300mm F4 ED [IF] SDM

from my first trip birding with the Topeka Audubon Society visiting Cheyenne Bottoms wetlands

an American Bittern Botaurus lentiginosus

very hard to spot

extreme crop

SOC

[ actually the 300mm was not " long " enough for most of the shots but it was the best I had, and i am attempting to use extreme cropping and pp to see what I can get.

I also had no tripod. When I contacted the organizer of the trip, she specified it was a " birding " trip and the possibilities of photography would be limited.

In fact, she was requesting I take shots i wouldn't have attempted to try to document what we were seeing. ]

Thanks BB. Just luck, nothing involving forethought or selecting a perspective on my part.

Don't you just hate Trash and litter! Some people just cannot resist throwing their rubbish around, same bird sanctuary. Makes for an interesting image. Red Knobbed Coot with Polystyrene tray.

Some trash is more annoying for humans than dangerous to wildlife for whom some of it is just substrate.
