This bird is all puffed up, trying to look important and studly, but when all is said and done, he's still a turkey.

Chipping sparrow, one visiting my feeders, the other miles away foraging along the roadside.

ARRGGGHHHH. Only had an hour fifteen for a hike this morning while my daughter was in class. So didn't bother to take my camera for a walk around the pond in a wild area near the university. As I was crossing a bridge which goes across one end of the pond in a shallow area, an osprey decided to hover 25 feet oover my head looking down for some trout.

I have gotten osprey pictures there in the past but they have only very recently returned this far north and in fact this was the first one I've seen this year.

Of course if I'd had my camera, the osprey never would have been there.

Sometimes we encounter something worthy of a photograph while walking Tralee, so I resolved to always bring along at least a shirt-pocket P&S. Then, day after day, walk after walk, there's nothing really interesting, so I forget to take along the little Pany. Guess what?

Male cowbird,
Rose-breasted grosbeak pair. She's pushed him into bokeh.

That's a pity hey! But maybe next time. That incidentally is the idea behind the Single and Daily In Challenges- They "force to take the Camera with you.

Here's the king, in a rare moment of alertness

Time for a meerkat, even more adept at sitting on its rear haunches that either the mongoose or squirrel posted above.
