I have, over the years, kept my ears open for reports of poaching in Pilansberg, and thankfully there has been none, probably in large measure due to the Special Anti-poaching unit they have there, that patrol regularly. And both last year and this year's visit I was confronted with road blocks by rangers, checking entry permit and occasionally, the boot of some cars.

Here's another two, and we had all hoped there would be a duel, but nothing in the offering.

Superb starlings. Thank goodness that officials have realized the animals are far more valuable alive and healthy than sacrificed to get dagger handles or aphrodisiac powder.

Agree, except when it comes to a place as vast as Kruger Park, it's another matter altogether. Just not possible to cover the whole place, so it has suffered quite a bit!
