Saw our 6 friends again yesterday, WPRESTO, at Rietvlei Nature Reserve. At first they were enjoying some shade from the intense heat wave.

And later in the day, they enjoyed some food

That bunch is impressive, especially when moving along more-or-less shoulder-to-shoulder. Good time to be inside a sturdy vehicle.

I went out looking for rough-legged hawks, and then one came looking for me.

Those six big rhinos advancing almost in a coordinated row. Would you prefer them dressed in gray?

Here's one for Aslyfox- Rietvlei Cheetah, part of a research and breeding program. They roam and hunt freely in the reserve (which I discovered is the largest Game Reserve in an Urban setting in the world) and once they have gained independence and ability to hunt, they are removed and set free in another of the many Game Reserves in South Africa. This one is part of a trio of young Cheetah, fast approaching maturity. As far as I can gather, there are two breeding females in the reserve, but I do not know of any males, so probably they are bred elsewhere. The male offspring were removed just recently. Note the collar.

Harlequin duck in Iceland. They're very fond of fast-moving or turbulent water,

Awesome photography Walt. Well done. I believe they would make an incredible offensive linemen for the Dallas Cowboys. Also, are they at this stage, juveniles? None of them have horns.

Thanks for uploading.

I was thinking about a football coach's dream come true when I snapped that image. The horns were probably sawed off to discourage poachers, but unfortunately, as a tour guide at another game preserved informed us, the poachers kill such hornless rhinos anyway, out of spite.
