Elephants get itches the same places we do, but they're not constrained by social inhibitions.

our guide assured us that these young male hippos that we found in the Serengeti were in the prelims

the one with the smaller jaws would back down before any serious damage was done

note the dust they killed up but I remember very little noise

Have you seen the new CGI version of Lion King? It is a breathtaking work of computer animation, with some parts a little better than the original, but as with almost everyone who has seen the film, we missed the voice of Jeremy Irons. Why is it that the villains are often the most interesting characters in a Disney film?

A hyena in the night. looking very sinister. An image where eye reflection is welcome. The tapetum lucidum has imparted a faint greenish tinge to the hyena's right eye, just yellow on its left..

[ we were watching the lion pride, when Judy or the Guide said there was a baboon in the tree. as it came down ( fast, it went on the far side of the tree, away from us and the lions, and I picked it up as it ran and looked back to see what the lions were doing ]

what happens when lions decide to rest below your tree

I have not seen the latest version, but then again I seldom watch movies, that happens mostly with my young people on Movie Night- part of the youth Program. I have heard though that it is quite good and well worth a view. But I'll probably concur about missing Jeremy Irons voice. I'll probably hire the DVD for our next movie night, usually the first Friday night of the new School term.

The CGI is good enough that M thought, probably still thinks that they mixed in some footage of real animals.
