garter snake encountered during an AM walk. It was chilly - the water in which the snake is floating was probably in the 30's (<5C) so the snake was barely able to move, but also the snake appeared to have an injury severe enough that it would ultimately be fatal.

I was shooting some wild pony pictures over on Assateague Island on Christmas Day. As the ponies are feral, visitors are not supposed to approach them, but apparently the Pony Handbook does not restrict them from approaching the visitors. They were intrigued by something on my shirt cuffs; both ponies were sniffing them profusely. Another photographer took the shots and sent to me.

I kept getting accosted by the Ponies today.

This kudu was being uncooperative about stepping into the open, but in this park there isn't that much open ground. Most of it is this dense brush in which a rhino is invisible if it's fifty feet away.
