I knew about the matriarch part but didn't realize the ladies pushed the gents out of the group. Puts an entirely new perspective on images of solitary elephants.
I am sure you know that bulls may gather together for a while, The most I have seen is 6 together, four is a bit more common, and less than that even more common.

Never gave it a lot of thought, to be honest...just assumed <I know, I know!> that groups/herds of adults were of mixed gender. Thanks, I've learned more about elephants from this thread than I ever knew before!

Magnificent creatures. Right now, here in the US, the World Wildlife Fund is running TV ads soliciting support for elephant protection/conservation. Heart-rending images...

Blue-headed wood dove in the same aviary as the turaco above. However did they come up with the name for this bird?

Colobus monkey, another inmate. But I did photograph a few that were "wild." They were hanging around a small zoo that was also an animal rehab center because there were good pickin's.

I set out hair brushed out of Dahlia in a suet feeder, and this little titmouse took advantage of some ultra-soft Sheltie hair for its nest. Gathering, organizing, and ready to take its prize home.

"foraging" is a completely unnecessary modifier with jackals, pretty much, I'd think!
