Thanks! I'm surprised they've eluded you--they're pretty easy to find (a bit harder to photograph ;~) on our urban streams.
I think their range is mainly in the coastal plain (sounds like a line from My Fair Lady). The one I've seen near home was a juvenile. I am surprised I don't see them out at the coast, though, even in places where BCNH are plentiful.

Nothing great here, just being opportunistic with the 18-135.

Yet I keep reading that the 18-135 is no good above 100mm, or even above 70! Yes, I know, mine fails to be bad too

Some spoon billed storks in Zambia.

Yes, the first gull shot is a pretty good test of the lens—wide open (f5.6) @135mm. I think it holds up pretty well. Admittedly, I was shooting in broad daylight, but I find that easier than in pitch dark. Kudos to the K-3 autofocus. It's a definite plus.

Crowned cranes - really improbable and spectacular birds.

The backside of a wildebeest herd, but probably less than 1% of the whole.

I'm guessing that wasn't taken in MA. I approve of the crop, btw.

True, not MA, and thanks for the approval, but it was a no-brainer to reject a Hasseblad square for cropping this one. Wish the light had been at my back rather than having a very strong side to back light.

Here's another crowned crane that I've posted pictures of earlier, a male bouncing around, spreading his wings, bobbing his head, making strange noises, kicking random things with his feet (primarily lumps of elephant dung) trying to impress a nearby female who, needless to say, knew just what this guy wanted and was totally ignoring him. And humans think they are so different from "the animals."

Probably pleasant for the vultures! Nice shot.

Thanks, and I'm sure it was. Not so for us, though. The smell greeted us several hundred meters upstream as we were paddling down. It was a relief to get upwind!

I really prefer my elephants alive The midday sun made for harsh lighting, though.

Here's a bull elephant with a retinue of birds happy to dine on stirred-up bugs rather than their pachyderm benefactor.

Cattle egrets are commonly seen around herds of buffalo as well. I suppose they got their name for a reason...
