Eastern bettong, normally nocturnal but this one was one and about in broad daylight. A closer look at the photos revealed it was blind in both eyes.

Swamp Wallaby. This one has an ear tag which means it's part of a trial of contraceptives designed to keep the population manageable by non-lethal means

In Yellowstone NP 9 17 2021

Rocky Mountain Big Horn Sheep Ram coming onto road which goes from from Mammoth to Gardiner Mt

[ back story, this guy came out of the road side weeds up from a creek about 15 feet or less from where I was shooting his " relatives " on the cliffside across the road and other " relatives " down by the creek. I had no idea that this guy and his female friends were down there and I almost walked right into him as he came up. I slowly backed up and stood very still as he looked at me and then slowly decided to cross the road instead of butting me. I had no way to go if things turned bad. lucky for me they did not and I took the photo ]

Glad you you got a story to tell rather than an injury to explain after the encounter with the bighorn ram. Sometimes even when your being watchful and careful a potential problem can appear from seemingly from nowhere. Happened to me in Canada with a female moose with a calf.

No. The mama moose trampled me to a bloody pulp.

Actually I backed up slowly to get a nearby tree between me and moose. I also got a couple of pictures, chromes that there not all that great. I may have scanned and posted the pest of them some years ago.

that will teach you to fool with mama

yeah, I took a deep breath or two waiting to see if the ram would butt me

broken ribs would be the best result if he had

Something that froze M & I in our tracks, and had us call back the dog, was an encounter in western MessyChewBits with a black bear sow followed by three cubs. She did see us, made a noise that sent all the cubs up into the trees, then she went across the trail we were following. Go down the trail between her and the cubs? Not on our lives. We just stayed put until she called the cubs down and across the trail, then we stayed put about 15 minutes more. then we went back the other way.
