Re-posting an image from years ago because I rather like it. Young white-tailed deer out in our back yard.

The spotting of a lifetime (for me at any rate) Red throated Wryneck, Kloofendal Nature Reserve. There are apparently only two species of Wrynecks in the world, The Eurasian and this one. What are the the chances I'd see one! Pretty blessed to have seen this.

Congratulations on the sighting, and managing to get a decent image with your hands shaking

A different version of the northern water snake, I decided to call it "Nessie."

That is a Coucal, probably Copperytailed Coucal, though it could also be the Burchell's Coucal, the more common one

I have been keeping an eye on a crane nest for almost a month. Today I found the adults and a colt wondering around and managed to get a photo without them being totally hidden by the cattails.
