When I got home on Saturday from an excursion to Delta Park, this was waiting for me on the street light across the road from where I live. How blessed can you be. The Black Shouldered Kit has adapted well to life in the suburban and urban jungle.

Birds from a trip to Florida more than a decade ago. If you look carefully just left of the pelican's face you can see a bit of monofilament fishing line. The pelicans with some regularity will grab a swallow a hooked fish as the angler is hauling it in. I don't know what distress the bird suffers from swallowing the hook and line. I think that the fishermen simply cut the line and let the bird and their fish go.

A hammerkop in the wild! I remember when you were wishing you could get a picture of that species.

A Southern Brown Bandicoot at Tidbinbilla Sanctuary in Canberra. Nobody seems to know how exactly the Bandicoots ended up in the Sanctuary.

Loon photographed while walking across a pedestrian bridge in Maine, right in the middle of town. I think of loons as being a bit shy, but not this one.

I don't know what you're trying to pull, but that looks nothing like me.

AT first I thought I was seeing my reflection. Loons come into the local Quabbin Reservoir (primary water source for Boston and numerous towns between here and that city), but I've only spotted them way out there, far enough that they'd be little more than a speck even using 1000mm, so I was startled to see one almost under me when I was crossing that bridge.

Little did I know that a bit of patience and 5 minutes of staring in appreciation they'd pay me back with posing.
