ivorie, Where did you find all of those big water birds? Is the one a tri-colored heron? Very nice series!

Tim, nice toad shot

Love the Heron shot ivoire : )
I was glad to see one of the Osprey I was watching the last couple years return, but the mate hasn't made it to the nest yet.

Wow, tons of great pics in here! Here's my contribution.

A male Common redpoll. This little guy had crashed in a window, but luckily he was only stunned by the impact. I held him in my hand until he started to feel better, then placed him on this wooden beam and took some pics. He flew away a few minutes later.

Here's a hungry red squirrel, happily eating sunflower seeds.

And an other squirrel, caught while he was climbing a tree.

I've got many more great animal shots, but a lot of them are zoo shots, which don't really fit in this thread. I can still post a few if you guys are interested in seeing uncommon animals.

Thanks littledrawe,
I've been watching this nest for about 3 years and the power company put a pole up now to keep them off the wires and it's not quite as close (and higher). I have been hassled by police twice in the 3 times I've been there this year so I hope that stops.

Sandhill Crane

A family of Sandhill Cranes...in my backyard.

When facing mammalian predators, they move toward the predator with their wings open and their bill pointed towards it. If the predator persists, the often hissing crane will attack, stabbing with their bill (which is powerful enough to pierce the skull of a small carnivore) and kicking with their feet...

Pretty nice cardinal captures. We have a pair of them coming around our yard as well, but you've had better luck catching yours than I have.
